I put one file with a size of 580kb. The Konx size was then 38MB !!!. How is that possible and how can I recude the file size of faulted files? Thanks |

The ~37MB overhead you are seeing is for the vault itself. You can store gigabytes of data on the vault and the overhead won’t increase. If you are only storing a very small amount of data on a vault, you can reduce this overhead by choosing a smaller size limit in the “advanced options” of the New Vault dialog. A vault with a size limit of 100MB will only take a couple of megabytes of overhead. The technical explanation for this is that Knox vaults include a whole HFS+ file system, and the bigger the size limit, the more HFS+ file system control structures the vault will contain. |

Is it possible to reduce the filesize of an Vault? I have a Vault thats 19 GB big, but it’s amount of Data is only about 10 GB because I deleted some files in it. I would like to use the free space outside the vault. |

Yes, go to the “Vaults” tab in Knox Preferences, select the vault you want to compact and click the “Compact Vault” button. |

I thought this was some kind of compression like ZIP or RAR to reduce the filesize of the whole content. Or does it just delete free space? |

Vault compaction does not compress any files, it just recovers the free space. |
