Does Knox 1.5.2 work under Leopard? What is the best way to upgrade to avoid problems with Knox?

Whole-disk vaults do not work on Leopard with 1.5.2. There are other issues as well, but mostly it works like it does on Tiger.

We will release a free update, Knox 1.5.3, that addresses these issues (and more). It’s due as soon as we get our hands on the final Leopard and Xcode tools and can build and test it with the final OS release.

Would you happen to have an ETA on the release of 1.5.3. Right now im stuck because ive upgraded my system to Leopard, not knowing this was going to happen.

Sorry about that. We hope to have a release up tomorrow. Meanwhile, note that you can always open a vault file without Knox installed by choosing the vault file in Finder and selecting File > Open With > DiskImageMounter from the menu bar. To do this with a whole-disk vault, you need to quit Knox before connecting the drive.

I have no problem with my Kox vaults, whole disk or not in 10.5.1 as long as the Time Machine Drive is not present. Then even if I have excluded the Vault in TM and TM is turned off for backing up, A back-up will be started and the TM drive and Time Machine and the Finder will hang.

I find that as long as Vaults a closed or the TIme Machine HD is not present one will work fine without the other.

I just downloaded 1.5.3 (Preview) of Knox and have not tried it yet in the presence of Active TM.

Don, how did you disable Time Machine for the vaults? You should add the location of the vault files (ie. Documents/Knox or Library/Knox under your home folder) to the “Do not back up” list, rather than the opened vault volumes themselves.

I use Time Machine for backing up everything but my Knox vaults, and it seems to work fine.

The open vaults don’t show to add. I did the images. Does not seem to matter. I only had one vault to begin with , an expanding vault on a partition( most of the partition. I excluded the vault image. Fine.

If I open the image the TM HD goes red line and the TM software hangs, even if TM back-up is OFF.

Then I made a small vault 1gb for a db file (.qif) and its backups and same thing, with TM OFF, but TM HD connected. Had not etcluded the vault image, yet. WIll try later.
