We have just released a preview of Knox 1.5.3 (873). Hopefully this is the final 1.5.3 version, but we wanted to make it available for a while in preview form.

If you use Leopard and you have the previous 1.5.3 preview (843), you should update to this build. The previous build did not encrypt newly created vaults if AES-128 encryption (the default) was chosen. Tiger users should stay with 1.5.2.

It’s finally here—a preview of our Leopard compatibility update.

Get Knox 1.5.3 from http://www.knoxformac.com/Knox-1.5.3.zip

Please do not submit this to any download tracking sites before we’ve added it to the main Knox site.

Actual release notes will have to wait until the proper release, but we do think that this version is better than 1.5.2 in every way. There are issues that we have not been able to fix in time for this release—stay tuned for further updates.

If you have any feedback on this “preview” of Knox 1.5.3, please submit them here in this forum topic.

I’d like to thank you all for your patience during this process.

Marko

Working good here. Only bummer is that, I have a 500gig disc which has been setup with full disc encryption and I was hoping to use time machine to backup to that over afp://. But for some reason after I mount the drive over afp:// time machine does not see it. :(

Im guessing this is a Mac OS X 10.5 issue. I dont really want my full time machine backup on some un-encrypted drive for someone to just walk off with.

maybe there is a problem with time machine. often my mac can not close open programs. time machine is running (not on a know fault) when some other faults are mounted. the knox software is unable to close, like other programs too (viewer, system configuration, and others). the only thing thats solves the problem is a hardware shut down. does somebody has the same problem?

Marko-

Thanks for the update. I just put this in an email but perhaps others are interested. How will Leopard’s new sparse.bundle format be used, in FileVault, if you know, and also by Knox? I do not understand the Time Machine integration and TM’s ability to backup only a portion (8MB?) of a huge sparse.bundle. Is it basically breaking it into chunks and then only updating the pieces?

What else has changed, other than the aes-256?

All the best and thank you for the great work!

Hey guys
The link for the 1.5.3 download appears to be invalid, am I missing something?

We have withdrawn the preview release pending further fixes to it. See the topmost post for details.

Update: A new build, 873, is now available.
