Slow in Leopard?

Hi there,

I’m using a fresh install of Leopard and just upgraded to Knox 1.5.3. With both 1.5.2 and 1.5.3 Knox has been really slow to open and the menu item is so unresponsive as to be unusable (I’m not using the dock icon). I keep trying to hold the icon down and wait, or hover over that area after releasing, but I get the beach ball and the menu shows for just a flash (after a minute or so). Sometimes I do something just right and can actually interact with the menu (after waiting a minute or so).

Vaults are slower to open, too. I have a vault that is 128-bit encrypted that’s only 99mb and it takes about a minute to open. Just as a test, I copied the contents to another 256-bit vault with a 100mb limit (the size is 29mb). It takes about the same time to open both.

Is there anything you can suggest to speed things up? Thanks,

Dylan

Hi,

Sorry for a slow response. At the moment most of us are using Knox on top of Leopard in-house and we are not seeing this kind of behaviour, so this issue needs a bit more investigating.

Please send me a mail at jussi DOT hagman AT karppinen DOT fi (replace AT and DOTs) . I’ll contact you and we’ll hopefully track this problem down.

If you feel like it please write a few words about your setup, which computer, how much memory, where are the vaults stored (internal HD, external HD, network drive, something else?), how many vaults are there in total and if it is just Knox that is “beach balling” or are other applications slow at the same time. I’ll ask more information if it is needed.

Greetings,
Jussi
