Occasionally after back-up or at other odd times, my Vault will rename itself to Macintosh HD. Anyone else experience this?

I am also having odd keychain issues where my passwords don’t always populate from keychain. This is happening in other programs too so it is probably not Knox but thought I’d ask :)

I’ve seen it for sure, but I just can not reproduce it constantly. Any help to make it reproduceable is very welcome.

I agree, the keychain issues are probably not due Knox.

Thanks,
Jussi

I’m having the same problem too.
I cannot reproduce it, but it happened 2 times.
2 different vaults where renamed ‘Macintosh HD’ at 2 different times.

After a day of work with some vaults mounted, I eject them, put my laptop to sleep, then go back home, open my laptop, want to mount the vaults again via the menubar icon, and see that one of them has been renamed.

I’m running Mac OS X 10.5.2.
Does this bug make the vaults insafe?

It is an annoying bug that will be fixed as soon as I can find a way to produce it in a constant fashion.

I don’t really see why it would make the vaults unsafe, it is just an irritating bug.

I’m having the same problem, so I thought I’d post some further info.

My boot drive is called “Moonshine” (don’t ask ;) and I have three Knox vaults. One of them, named “Virtual Machines”, which is used for, wait for it, my virtual machines for vmware fusion, last night after backup got renamed to Moonshine. The other two were untouched.

They were all not mounted when the change got made. I’m also running 10.5.2. I have multiple other internal and external (both firewire 800 and usb) which all were mounted at the time it happened.

I renamed the vault (through the Knox preferences) and all seems OK. Fusion asked me to confirm that I moved the files, but it seems to be happy.

OK, hope this helps Jussi.

This happened to me when I tried to use “umount /Volumes/My\ Vault” Maybe that’ll do it for you…

Happened for the second time to me today. The first time it was a vault residing on my main hard drive that got renamed.

But today, it happened to a vault that was on an external firewire drive named “LaCie Big Disk”. The vault was named “VOB Files” and opened fine yesterday, but had been re-named “Macintosh HD” today.

Everything was in the vault, but still this is a bit worrisome to see a vault name changed with no input from the user.

The source of this has been tracked down to be an Apple bug, where a disk image’s mount point is reported incorrectly as ”/Volumes/Macintosh HD”, for a couple of milliseconds.

We’ve filed a bug with Apple and a workaround is now in place in the next release of Knox that were this to occur, a vault’s volume or file name can’t be changed to “Macintosh HD”, or whatever the main system volume is called.

Thanks for the bug descriptions!
