Hello mib! Is the vault in question a whole-disk vault or just a regular vault? If it’s just a regular vault, can you create or modify other files in the same directory when this happens? If you Get Info on the vault file, what does it say in the Sharing & Permissions -section? Is there also a Time Machine backup on the same volume?

dear kalle; thank you for your prompt response. i try to answer your questions: it is a regular vault and i can modify any files in the same folder. the vault files has “You have Custom Access”. when i open it it says “You can only read”. there is no Time Machine backup on the same volume. i hope this helps to analyze the problem. mill thanks in advance, mib

Sorry about the delay. This is a problem Leopard introduced. This does not seem to be a problem with sparse bundles, for which we have support coming in the next release. I hope you can stick it out until then!
