Off-Site backup

Hello: What I am trying to do is this: I want to back up my Mac files and clone a copy of my hard drive. To accomplish this, I will probably use SuperDuper! I also want to encrypt some of the files stored on my local hard drive and external hard drive; Knox can do this. But let’s say that I encrypt a file on my local hard drive and now I want to store that encrypted file in some other off-site location such as .Mac or Mozy or Amazon Web Services (by using Jungle Disk). Will Knox let me move the encrypted file(s) off-site? If so, where is the documentation explaining how I can do this? Thank you. |

Hello! Sorry for the delay. By moving them, do you mean storing them permanently to a volume somewhere in the cloud, and using them from that location only? |

Hello, I have a similar question – I want to use DROPBOX (getdropbox.com) where the vault is stored on my computer but mirrored in the cloud and synced to other computers. Since the cloud is not mac os, will this work? Thanks |

This should work just fine, apart from the custom icon possibly disappearing and Knox not being the default opening application for the particular file, since this information is stored on the local filesystem and could disappear in the process of syncing. Unfortunately I have no experience with Dropbox, so I’d recommend testing the syncing thorougly with a vault file before relying on it. Keeping up-to-date backups on some local filesystem is also a good idea. |
